Laser Skin Peeling and Resurfacing - GMC Cosmedical
A general overview…
The introduction of Laser Skin Peeling with the 'Sciton Profile' computer controlled Laser System brings a new approach to Skin Peeling. Laser Peeling is more flexible and can give even better results than other forms of Skin Peeling.
What is the Profile Laser?
The Profile Laser is a state of the art system that combines two lasers, working at the same time, to precisely refine the skin surface and set a new standard for laser skin peeling. With its precise computer control mechanisms, it allows your physician to tailor the depth and effects of your Laser Peel treatment to match your skin condition and desired results; and so achieve the best possible outcome.
What conditions can be treated with Laser Peeling?
- Wrinkles and pigmentation
- Sun damaged appearance
- Acne Scarring
- Solar lentigines (sun freckles & spots)
- Actinic Keratoses (pre cancers)
- Hypertrophic (ie. thickened) scars
- Surgical scars
What will the Profile laser do?
Your physician will use the Profile Laser to remove fine layers of the skin's surface until the damage is cleared. This will then be replaced by younger and healthier skin regrowth on the surface, as well as stimulating stronger Collagen production in the deeper layers of the skin. The result is that sun damage and dry coarse skin texture will improve greatly; fine wrinkles will disappear while deeper ones will soften and become less noticeable; pigmented lesions will greatly improve or disappear; and your skin will look and feel softer and smoother and more even in colour and texture.
For deeper skin problems, such as advanced sun damage & acne scarring, full thickness Laser Resurfacing with the Sciton Erbium Laser is the safest and the most appropriate treatment.
What areas can be treated?
Most skin areas can be treated. Popular areas are the face, neck and hands.
How long will it take to recover?
Healing time will vary slightly from individual to individual and will also depend upon your treatment depth. Lighter peels may have only a day or two to recover (the 'weekend peel') while deeper peels will require around 5 days (for example, if the procedure is carried out on Thursday you can get back to work on Monday).
