Liposuction will permanently remove fat cells from areas that that dieting and exercising can't.
Liposuction, also called Liposculpture, is a body shaping and contouring procedure designed to remove fat from those stubborn areas that refuse to go no matter how much you diet and exercise. If you want to alter your shape then fat (fat cells) need to be physically removed from these areas. Diet and exercising alone do not remove fat cells.
Any areas that have resistant fat deposits that you wish to reduce can be treated. Common areas are the tummy, love handles, hips and thighs, buttocks, arms and neck. However, any area can be treated including face and jowls, knees and ankles, and man-boobs in men.
The ideal candidate is someone who is active, eating correctly and is within 10 kg of their ideal body weight but they still have stubborn areas of fat that they wish to reduce.
Although overweight people can also have resistant fatty areas that can be treated this way this procedure should not be looked upon as a weight reducing process. It is best to get onto a proper diet and exercise routine to shed some kilos first before undergoing this procedure. Grossly overweight individuals are not suitable at all.
If you have any significant medical conditions you will need to discuss these with the doctor to determine if you are suitable or not. Heavy smokers will need to reduce this for at least two weeks before the procedure as heavy smoking carries an operative risk
This procedure is a remarkably safe and effective way of permanently removing fat and sculpting your body. It is carried out in our procedure room very comfortably under local anaesthesia called ’tumescent anaesthesia’ and the fat is physically removed by suction through a fine cannula. Many years of experience worldwide have shown this to be the best, simplest and safest method. There is no need for hospitalisation or general anaesthesia, and it is a walk-in walk-out treatment. You will be wearing a compression garment for two weeks which will keep the treated area feeling snug and protected.
There may be some discomfort initially while the anaesthetic fluid is being infiltrated into the fatty area to be treated but the anaesthetic kicks in very quickly and the remainder of the procedure is then painless! There is little if any pain post-op pain and simple analgesics such as paracetamol or ibuprofen are usually all that is required.
This will depend on the type of work that you do. Non physically demanding work means that you can get back to work in a few days. Most are back to work within the week.
These are permanent results! Fat cells do not regenerate so once they have been removed then they do not come back. Your new shape will now remain with you permanently.
Although there will be swelling from the tumescent anaesthesia and the procedure itself immediately post-op most will see some results straight away. Results will then improve week by week (exciting!) with best results seen after 3 months when the area has settled down and the fibrous tightening of the tissues and skin has taken place.
