Tattoo Removal - FOTONA Fractat Laser

Remove your unwanted cosmetic tattoo fast. With advanced laser treatment FONTONA technology for effective, exceptional tattoo removal. No need to cover up any more!

Tattoos can be removed much more safely and effectively than in the past. Scarring as a result of removal is no longer a common side effect and usually, it is difficult to see where the tattoo actually was. Not all colours respond equally, and some tattoos cannot be removed completely. We assess your tattoo in-clinic to discuss realistic expectations and will advise if you have one of these tattoos.

There are a number of lasers available for tattoo removal.

We use the latest technology with the Fotona Starwalker FracTat protocol which combines q-switch and pico-second lasers with a fractional ablative laser. The fractional ablation makes for a superior result- fewer treatments required and less downtime than conventional lasers.

To explain this, tattoo particles are dyes embedded in the skin that are too large for the body’s immune system to clear away. The immune system functions to remove foreign particles recognising anything foreign as a toxin that it needs to protect against. As the immune system cannot clear these large ink particles it shields them off from the rest of the body but they remain in place, this is why the ink remains permanently. The fractional technology aims to shatter and release the pigment into micro-particles small enough for the body’s natural lymphatic system to remove more effectively.‍

Treatment guide

How many treatments will I need?

The number of treatments depends on a number of things, including your skin type, how long the tattoo has been there, the location on the body, the colour of the ink, tattoo layering, type of dye used, if it has been treated before and whether there is any scarring or tissue change.

The advanced FracTat technique has been proven to reduce up to half the number of treatments needed to remove a tattoo when compared to standard laser techniques.

Tattoos don't come off as quickly and easily as they go on ;) This is not a one-treatment solution, you'll need to return for subsequent treatments 6-12 weeks apart.

Is this a painful treatment?

This is not usually a painful treatment with the laser and techniques we use. We will apply a strong anaesthetic gel one hour prior to treatment and most patients report minimal sensation duration the treatment.

Is there any downtime?

Downtime is minimal. You will need to dress the treated area for a couple of days afterwards until healed.
