LED light therapy for acne is non-invasive treatment using specialised HEALITE™ technology a system designed to deliver the optimal light for therapeutic benefit specific wavelengths of light to target and address the root causes of breakouts.
Understanding Acne: Acne typically arises from excessive oil production, often hormonally driven. This oil clogs pores with dead skin cells, dirt, and makeup, leading to comedones (whiteheads and blackheads). These comedones can become infected by acne bacteria on the skin's surface, developing into pustules, nodules, and cysts depending on severity.
How does LED Light Therapy work for Acne?
LED (Light Emitting Diode) in a specialised lamp that emits high energy light beams with a wavelengths that are selected to produce specific desirable therapeutic effects.
When using the Healite™ LED in our clinics we perform two sessions per week, the first is the blue light (415nm) to clear infection of acne bacteria. Then, 2-3 days later we apply the red light (830nm) to improve healing of both the acne and the acne scars.

Treatment guide
During an LED light therapy treatment for acne, you can expect a comfortable, in-clinic experience. A qualified professional will first cleanse your face. Then, they'll apply protective eyewear and position you comfortably under the HEALITE™ light source. Depending on the treatment schedule, you'll receive either blue light to target bacteria or red light to promote healing, with sessions lasting typically around 10-20 minutes. The treatment itself is painless and requires no downtime.
Pricing guide
Our recommended treatment course consists of twice-weekly sessions for five weeks. Each session will follow a specific order:
- Blue Light (415nm): This targets and damages acne bacteria for targeted clearing.
- Red Light (830nm): Administered 2-3 days after the blue light session, this promotes healing of acne lesions and reduces scarring.
Pricing guide is $400 for the full course of 10 treatments.
Considerations
Using both blue and red lights on the same day can be counterproductive. The red light, intended for healing, can negate the bacteria-killing effects of the blue light. Our treatment protocol ensures optimal results by separating the sessions.
Blue light 415nm (nanometer) wavelength has specific bactericidal (antibacterial) actions, perfect for clearing the infection by the acne bacteria.
Red light 830nm (nanometer) wavelength has exceptional wound healing and regeneration capabilities and improves the blood flow, resulting in better and faster healing of the acne, and reduction of scarring. It soothes the skin tissue and has a general regenerative action.
