Deeply stimulates brand new collagen formation and the thermal response stimulates more elastin and hyaluronic production
Radio frequency (RF) is a high-frequency current delivered by a sophisticated technology designed to safely penetrate the skin. This current targets the deeper dermis and sub-dermis where the supporting collagen fibres are found, it heats and contracts these fibres and tightens the skin. Additionally, the heat stimulates brand new collagen formation and the thermal response stimulates more elastin and hyaluronic production. Although the face and neck are ideal areas any other area may be treated this way.
Sessions take around 30 minutes but can vary depending on the size of the area and how many areas are being treated.
It is normal to feel a warming massage sensation which most find quite relaxing. The treatment is painless. You may have a radiating pink colour for a short while after the treatment, and there is no downtime.
Because RF is a deeply penetrating technology it reaches and brings about beneficial physiological responses in all layers of the skin to induce the changes mentioned above. The sub-dermis responds by tightening the reticular fibres that attach and stabilise the skin to the muscle layers below. By stimulating the lymphatic circulation, it aids in the normal drainage of toxins and radicals, contributing to the health of the skin. The result is a tighter, healthier, glowing skin.
RF is different from lasers and other light sources as it targets the water in the cells and does not affect melanin, so it can be used safely in all skin types and colours.
Immediately after the first treatment, you will often notice a visible response with tightening and lift. This result will not be long-lasting initially but with each additional treatment, the results will be more noticeable and last longer. This is why the treatment is promoted as a package to encourage you to complete the course and get the best possible outcome. On average, 6 sessions are given at 1-2 week intervals but for more damaged skins a couple more treatments may be recommended.
As with any cosmetic treatments follow-up treatments will be required. Usually, a couple of treatments two or three times a year to boost and maintain the results is recommended, but this will vary depending on the condition of your skin.
Most concerns have more than one course of treatment. Feel free to contact us so one of our team can discuss options for your unique concern.
