Eyelid Correction - Upper Blepharoplasty

Treatment Description
Improved vision: In some cases, blepharoplasty may improve vision by reducing the weight of excess eyelid skin that maybe drooping over the eye area, effecting the visual field.
Minimal downtime: Most patients can return to their normal activities within a few weeks.
Blepharoplasty is a well established procedure with a high success rate of removing excess skin.
You will require a consultation with a registered medical professional who will:
- Discuss your concerns and goals
- Take a full medical history
- Assess your eyelid structure and facial features
- Explain the procedure, risks, benefits, and expected outcomes
- Provide information on costs, recovery time, and follow-up care
You will have the opportunity to ask questions, and a cooling-off period will apply before booking surgery, in line with AHPRA guidelines.
As with any surgical procedure, blepharoplasty carries risks, including bruising and swelling, infection, dry eyes or irritation, scarring, changes in eyelid position, over-correction, under-correction, unsatisfactory aesthetic outcomes which may require revision surgery.
Considerations
The best candidates for eyelid surgery are in their 30s or older, in good health, and without eye conditions. Still, no real age requirement exists for blepharoplasty, and can be performed on younger patients if clinically indicated. Please advise us if you have glaucoma, dry eyes, or detached retina.
Will I need time off after the procedure?
You will need to take some time off work, usually 7-14 days, because of bruising and swelling. It may take a couple of weeks for the swelling to subside completely and 4-6 weeks to see the final result Do not participate in strenuous activities for at least three weeks. You may find it tiring to watch TV for the first few days. Makeup can be applied after 10 days.
What alternatives are there to surgery?
Alternatives will be discussed in clinic and can include laser resurfacing and radiofrequency needling .The risks and possible complications of this procedure will be discussed, including realistic outcomes. Surgical blepharoplasty will generally give good results which are also long term or permanent.
